Who's the greatest guitarist alive?

-I'm going with Marty Friedman, because in and out of Megadeth he's proven himself to be technically and musically brilliant when playing guitar, his playing even sent Dave Mustaine spiraling into a deep depression and caused him to relapse on drugs! (Imagine that, you're so much better than someone at something, that you cause them to turn to drugs to block out the pain) his solos are notoriously difficult to mimic and sound as if they were impossible to play in the first place. Then comes his sound, guitarists have their own sound, but there's something about his sound combined with his technical wizardry that draws people to him. He's seriously very underrated and quite possibly better than everyone the others people have mentioned

Here he is doing a little wing improvisation

Here is is performing the Tornado of Souls solo with Megadeth in the early 90's

He isn't just about mindless shredding either, he has a unique way of playing fast smooth legato

He's naturally very clever when it comes to playing the guitar altogether.

Him and Dave Mustaine are my favourite guitar duo of all time, so please consider Marty

Thank you for your time. That is opinion. it depends on what music you like. Im sure some one will say Eddie Van Halen and he is good but really, not that great. He uses double tapping which makes it sound great. Rock is also an easier genre for guitar. For blues Eric Clapton. For jazz, I would pick Jeff Beck. For rock there are a couple different options, Pete Townsend is great if you really listen to some live stuff. Santana had a good sound and style. There is always Jimmy Page who makes some really good riffs. For acoustic, I would say Chet Atkins. There is also Joe Satriani, Brian May, David Gilmour, and a lot more.
Slash. There is no question. That man is a frickin genius. Mick Mars is also great. Saw The Crue in concert about a month ago and that man is freaking phenomenal.
I'd say Joe Satriani...I love his music...

...
Tony Iommi
Lindsey Buckingham
Gary Holt (Exodus)
John Petrucci
Joe Satriani- I wish i could play half as well as he can
Eddie Van Halen
eric clapton
Dave Mustaine. i was sold on devils island
I'd say either Steve Vai or John Petrucci.
Jimmy Page
CHUCK BERRY
Jimmy Page.
